Have you been getting any snow up there yet? L.P. has just had some flurries off and on...Nothing major.
Friends are tuning up the snowmobiles, getting ready.

we quit work an hour early because of the snow, but we were 175 feet in the air and on the lake superior shore, somewhat. right now,its snowing about 4" in the last few hours. we are supposed to get a foot to 14" tonite, maybe a day off tomorrow...

One of the most popular models is battery tender, www.batterytender.com

They make several models that are fully automatic, and if you want they come with a little wire harness to hook onto your battery while in place on the bike. Battery tender has about the best name in the industry. Even here in Tejas, some people put their bikes up in "winter" but I keep mine ready for those unexpected warm days when I can break one out for a ride.
The thing thats nice about the harness, is you can leave it in place and if you get a nice day, just unplug it, fire up and go for a ride. Hope this helps out.

P.S> be sure to keep an eye on the electrolyte level over the winter, it can decrease and you don't want to run a cell dry. Most of the models listed only apply charge current when the battery needs it, so it should be okay. Some of the older trickle chargers would constantly feed the battery and it would eventually cause the electrolyte level to decrease.
