Considering they (France, Russia, China and possibly Germany) have billions tied up in Iraq, of course they will protect their interests. Who else can afford France's nuclear facilities but Iraq? With "friends" like them, who needs enemies!

When the war is over, and the hidden stuff surfaces and is brought before the cameras (Why do you think the pentagon is allowing reporters to "imbed" with the field troops) a lot of nasty things are going to say "Made in France" "Made in Germany". Maybe even made in USA.
The French are irrelevant. All this once glorious power has is a veto. Their economy is shot, their population is infested with muslims, their spirt is gone and they are afraid. Just like before Hitler had his way with them.
Germany is saying one thing and still helping us quietly. They have troops in Afganistan and a pretty good intelligence outfit. They too have swung socalist and are infested with Muslims, too making pro-US politics difficult. Their armed forces are so weak patrolling Afganistan is about all they are capable of.

| I would not use intemperate language like "infested", ,
even if the points you make, Chuckiechan, had some considerable merit. But wisdom suggest temperance.
But "PHOOSH, FA-LOOP, AND PHLOOOM" to France , Germany, and Belgium on opposing defending NATO ally Turkey--which has requested it--is good.
So is pie !
It is the Gov'ts that are blame IMO, not any particular segment of their population.

but what really is ticking me off is Germany, France & Belgium blocking NATO from offering defense of Turkey.
All these former colonial powers - holding on to their self-believed delusions of grandeur - like world cares what the French or Belgians (or Germans) think and do.
Perhaps we should have refused defense of their countries during the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's - and let the USSR swallow them up.

Ah ! But anything can be used intemperately, even quoting in bold someone who may have mispoke a point he was making, Spooky Eddy,
Ah ! But wisdom suggest the class to show forebearance.
Ah ! And creamy American pie is best !
Luv and Kisses to all !
