83 up Bonneville SSE without the "i"
The "i" means it's supercharged, a potential hit on the pocketbook when it goes out.
I've seen these cars with 250k miles and never had any work done to them,, AND they still run and drive like new.
The 3800 series powerplant from GM is almost bulletproof, unlike the tincan motors put into the Sunfire & Cavalier.
In the first 2 years GM had teething problems with the 3800, 1985 & 86 after that the shaking transmissions were fixed.
The SSE has loads of options, they also put very stiff springs on it and overall it competes with some unnamed imports

Except for price.
The SSE's to look for are 1988-92, then the bigger body looks killer too starting in "93, but cuts performance a bit with extra weight, still a very nimble and stable platform.
My fav color in these is White with Saddle Leather interior.
The seats are super deep and only come in Buckets, even the rear seats have huge headrests and sink down like some German imports.
One neat option to look for is the HUD, or Heads-Up-Display
This projects vitals onto the windshield so you don't look down.
