Locked Out Have you ever?
I drive a truck for a living so you would think I’d have better sense than to lock myself out of my truck. Well, I guess God didn’t give me much. Last week I was getting out of my truck and oops. Left the stupid key in the ignition, mind you it’s the fourth time in 6 years I’ve done this. Man was I peed-off. I had to call my boss and explain what happened and after 5 minutes of him laughing at me he suggested I’d figure out how to get back in. This truck is tight so there was no way of using the coat hanger trick. So after about ten minutes of cussing and slamming the truck door with my fist I broke down and called a lock smith. 50 dollars later I’m back in the truck. I called my boss on the radio and told him I was back on the road. He asked how I got back in so fast. I told him how and here he goes again with the laughing again. Oh well. One of life’s lessons I thought. But, I did get reimbursed so I guess I should be thankful. Anyway I just thought I’d share that incase anybody else ever does it.

I used to have a spare key that was like a credit card the Autoclub made for me to keep in my wallet, it was good for one use and at least allowed you back in the vehicle---wont work with the new style keys with the chip in em tho...

Just had to sign a piece of paper saying I wasn't going to sue if they blew out my lock lol
Glad it worked out for you

I once locked my main keys in my car, (with central locking ), went indoors for the spare to find the house had been burgled, all keys gone. Called the cops, who went thru things. I lamented my car, to one guy, he came back with a tennis ball cut in half. Held it over the drivers door lock and thumped, presto Central locking opens every door!!!
Never trusted central locking since!

I have a friend, let's call him Ray, who got our locked out record.
It happened just once, but what an event !
He forgot his key in the ignition and locked the doors, simple mistake anyone can do...
He has a spare in his wallet, but since his wallet is 2 inches thick with cards and change he puts in on the passenger seat when he drives. He forgot it there.
He has another spare in his cell phone holder, which fell in the car too.
His mother has a spare, but she wasn't at home !!!

A few years ago I was at the beach in a truck I had at the time---locked the keys in the ignition with the motor running and was by myself---how damn stupid is THAT???
Had to leave it and walk about a halfmile to a phone, I was surprised it was still there---running---when I finally made it back...

Happened to me two months ago. Called AAA and they used the "old hanger trick" and opened the door in 50 seconds. Only the hanger wasn't a hanger but a contraption jsut to do this.
Best of all it was free.
