where to post threads

it isn't easy for newbies to know where they should post their threads. I posted one yesterday and got told it should be some where else.

Hi Janny, welcome. Saw your pic over in the Gallery, too. Nice to 'meet' you.

A way to figure that out is to check out the forum descriptors under each forum title header, here:

Forum Index

i.e.,

Quote:
Security & Privacy Issues
OS/app security updates, virus reports, securing systems, privacy, spam.
and so on.

If you really can't decide where a topic goes (and it happens! ) then you can just post in General Discussion or, if it's tech support needed for an undefined topic, Tech Support.

And don't worry about it too much. You can always PM a mod to have something moved

LOL, Janny, don't feel bad, we all go through that. There are so many different forums here, it's easy to mis-place.

Just read the titles of the forums here, and do your best to place your inquiry in the best one. If you do that, I bet you'll be spot-on 99.3% of the time!

Jannybean, the Security forum is very new (thanks to SoCalGal! ), and even established members forget to post relevant stuff in it. So you are not alone in this one....

Not really a problem, though, as it's not a big deal anyway. Lots of stuff goes in the wrong forum accidentally. But it's easily fixed as suggesed by SoCal and Knothead. Just PM a mod.

Cheers
Mick

You'll get used to the setup with a little more posting. Even "Old Hands" end up posting in the wrong fourm sometimes....
