Sometimes you can be right...
...and still be wrong.
Bush's bean counters want to stop supplementing schools which teach military kids whose parents live off base. The idea is that those parents are already paying property taxes, so the schools should not be compensated again. Sort of double-dipping, I guess.
This may be fiscally responsible, but the timing could not be worse. CNN

I know the deal. Bush is right, but local communities around bases won't like it. Unfortunately many of these communities look as the base a source of income and not as people going to work. I tell you, as soon as the troops role out of Killeen this town will shrivel up and people around here will go "what happened?" Well what happened is they are going to war, so no more lunches at Burger King for a while.

I agree that the fact that these schools have been getting this bonus for so long is no reason to continue it, but talk about a PR blunder. He's going to need Reagan-like Teflon to keep this mess from sticking to him like burnt eggs.

Ah the liberals and Knothead will just complain he is stealing food away from children at school again. They will spin up to a point of hysteria and then look foolish (again). What these people do not get is that the tax dollars they are taking for Military kids who are at off-base schools come from everyone in the country. We all bear the double burden and the last time I checked that is not equitable...kinda sounds like theft to me.

I think everyone needs to tighten the belt a little. Just ask some old timer's about nylon's, steel, copper, gas rations etc. Back when evreyone made a sacrifice in wartime, not just the poor boys going overseas. We have become so used to being soooo comfortable if the batteries go out on the remote we are ready to blow our top. Yell at the microwave for taking so long to pop some popcorn. 200 channels on tv and nothing good on.

Ah the liberals and Knothead
| Hmm. Does that mean that Knothead isn't a liberal? I know he's not conservative, so what group does he fit in? And where do I sign up?

M_Six,
I would love to start a splinter group, but alas I have a different lot in life I decided to fill. But if you want to know if you would want to join, answer a few questions.
1. Do you believe in equitable execution of the law across the board. Does not matter if you are black, white, purple, green, etc...
2. Do you believe that success should be rewarded and not punished?
3. Do you believe that all life is precious, but that people can forfeit the value of their life by taking another's?
There are a lot more, but you get the drift.
