I found a great place to buy Outerwear.

It's a site called campmor.com They are having winter close outs on coats. I picked up a Columbia "bugaboo" for 59 bucks (mens) if you don't know about Columbia Sports wear it's some of the best made. What makes a bugaboo so cool is what they call the interchange system. It's really 2 coats in one. The lining zips out and is a nice polar tec jacket and the shell a nice gortex coat. Together they can take on most anything. The same jacket was on sale at the sporting goods store here for 129.00 it retails for about 190.

Shipping was 11.90 not bad and service was fast. Good exchange policy too. I have to send the one back that was too big but they are sending out another without shipping to help defray the cost for me.

Hey, thanks Surreal. I found a pair of Columbia boots I want for half what they want in the local place. Wheeeee, time to spend money I don't have!!

Whoah, to heck with the Columbias... I'm gonna get the Lowa's that are gore-tex and on sale for 1/3 of sticker price.

When you buy from Campmor you'll be on their mailing list forever. My last purchase from them was back in the late 90's but a couple of times a year I get their catalog. Not that its a bad thing - the post office needs the business.

Sportsman's guide isn't too bad but you really have to know what you're buying and watch their shipping costs very closely. Sort of sounds like the computer business doesn't it?

Ah... campmor

I've been buying equipment from them for ages, but yeah, once you get just one thing you'll be getting their catalogue (and the people who live in the house after you, and the people after them) for ages.

They have great prices and some really good stuff.

You might also try www.sierratradingpost.com as well.

And when you spell outer wear as "outerwear" somehow the first thing you think of is "underwear," which is what I thought this thread was all about at first .

Um but why not spell it outerwear? that's what it is. Especially if you compare it to underwear. Underwear, middlewear and outerwear!
I don't mind catalogs, not for groovy stuff like camping equip and clothes (uh did I mention I'll be moving in a few months? )

WOW the Sierra Trading post has some really good prices on something I love.... shoes! Thanks for the link!
