Good advice. Kids may get you tax refunds, but they are expensive in the long term.

Spend a bit, save a bit.

Cheers

lol

I know your feeling of glee! I should be getting $140 this year (I have no kids). Any way I'm torn between pooling it with some other money and getting a 19" black monitor, saving for a car, saving for college, spending it on stuff I need, or saving it. I think I'll end up saving it for one of the last couple options. As much as I want a black monitor to finish off my PC it'll have to wait.

Hey, can I borrow one of your kids really quick? I havent sent in my tax papers yet lol j/k

Congrats, the government is paying you back for a no interest loan you gave them. Have fun with the money.

Fatal, I like getting a refund too--about $2000 between federal and state--but lending the government almost $4000 is expensive. Why not bump up your withholding allowances and bring some of that extra money home each week? Another idea, put $2000 into an IRA (for yourself or your wife), for which the goct will pay you about $500.

Well in my case the govt is paying me to be poor. I'm getting back much more than I paid in.. Which I know by other threads that have been posted that makes some here angry. But it doesn't bother me. I've paid though the nose some years.

Sometimes taxes don't make sense to me.

Last year, I made a combined $20k with 2 jobs, and I had to PAY a combined $150... Shouldn't "richer" people have to pay more than "poorer" people?
