I am actually partial to MTX amps.
I had 3 of them, and they never let me down.

great amp at a great price.

Whats your opinion on Autotek amps?...looking at the cheaper Super sport models.

I have used some of Oriion's designs before and WOW, they are awesome.
Autotek amps... I had one about 12 years ago and it was great. It was a 16x2 amp and I had 12 speakers running off of it. And yes, it got very hot!

FastHotRod: THAT WAS A FANTASTIC POST. I hope everybody who is into car audio takes the time to read it!

IMO the new Sony Xplod series car speakers sound so good they might take you by surprise.. now before you flame me..

I used to work with a guy who did custom car stereo and lowriders as a big hobbie.. he's been doing it for almost a decade.. I asked him about which speakers he would prefer and this is the response I got from him and the other people he worked with in his shop..

1. Only get 15 inch speakers if you have the space for some 8",10" or 12" speakers also.. 15 inch speakers move are but the recover so slow that their response sucks so you need a set of smaller speakers to make up for the lost response.

2. Most expensive doesn't always mean they sound the best.

3. Making sure that your speakers meet their air space requirments means EVERYTHING.. you can have $500 speaker but if the box is not made to spec then it will never sound they was it was meant to.

He's also the one who told me to check out Sony's Xplod series.. I got a set of 6x9 three way speakers for around $100 and put them in the back dash of my Caddy and just hooked up to my CD Player sounded like 10 inch subs with semi decent tweeters. Ever since I've put Xplod in all my cars (with the exception of the Kenwood 4x10s and tweets cause Sony don't make them ) because (like Intel vs. AMD) the Xplods are the best bang for the buck. I've heard that their subwoofers will really surprise you but haven't had a chance to buy them yet. (Got a really good deal on a set of two JBL 12" GT1200 for $50 in a box and I plan on using them.)

Yeah they'll surprise you.......by blowing!!!!!!!

Sorry dude but IMO (and the opinions of EVERY other hardcore car audio freak) Sony SUCKS for car audio. Their subs are the absolute worst......ok, maybe not that bad....Jensen is worse

Seriously, their subs and amps are OVERrated - they can't even do the power that they say they can!

I dare you to go post what you posted here at Car Audio Forum.

See what kind of responses you get.

BUT ---> as stated before, if they sound good to YOU (talking about speakers), then fine. Just DON'T get a Sony sub or amp and expect to power it good.

I got the amp installed on XR650csi's........ahhhhyeahhhhhh
I l-o-v-e them.

Even my wife, who could care less about car audio, said "wow"

They sound really clean. Listening to certain cd's like, "The Wall" and I can hear the pick hitting the guitar string.

For the $ I spent and not planning on competing, these are awesome.

Love them. Glad I didnt spend less and then second-guess my decision.

Every new song I hear, I like them even better. They give a whole new "sound" to each song.
I used to have all RF speakers in my previous car....they dont hold a candle to the JL's.

Unplugged the stock spkrs in the rear so now Im runnin'

Alpine HU
RF Punch 250.2 pushin a 12" OrionXTRs
RF Punch 160.2 pushin the JL XR650csi's

Thats it, and everyone I showed them to, loves it.

Did I mention that I love these speakers?

Thanks edwelly.

You forgot to mention, body aches from the strange positions you have to contort your body when installing it yourself. ( wiring through firewall, then using a distro block up under the dash- for example)...

still sore , but all smiles
