Meet the Honda FCX!

Is this the type of car you might buy in the future? Why or why not?

http://www.honda.com/

The only emission from the Honda FCX fuel cell vehicle is water vapor.

Ah, here it is.

A bit small, I wouldn't feel secure in it.

Driving Range : 355 Km, a bit low compared to a full gas tank.

Power : 80 HP. About as much as my Tercel. Not powerful, but acceptable as a mean of transport.

Fuel : Compressed hydrogen gas - that worries me.

Capacity : 4 adults, well rather 2 adults and 2 children according to the pics I see.

No trunk worth talking about.

Easy to park. Ideal for the city I think.

A good step toward the ecological car. Doesn't look half as dumb as most alternative energy powered vehicles I've seen.

The price is yet to be seen...

That explains why I didn't see it.

It's true that it isn't really nice looking, but it's the first non-fuel powered vehicle I've seen which you can actually say it's a car.

If it's priced right I'd jump ship from the gas powered units. I'm sure this thing is safer than my 1988 Chevy Sprint made out of pop-can thickness metal. If the infrastructure was availabe (availability of hydrogen gas) then I'd definitely drive this vehicle. Who knows, in the long run hydrogen may very well end up being cheaper than gasoline because we don't have to rely upon supplies that originate from half way across the globe. Would be an easy way to insulate consumers from market fluctuations.

Someone should make a pitch to the Canadian government to being investing in hydrogen extraction for vehicles. It would quickly promote the adoption of hydrogen powered vehicles.
