Anybody do the Atkins Diet ? The Pritikin Diet ?

Watching Dr. Atkins on Phil Donahue.

Always suspicious of anyhing presented in such glowing terms.
Experience show even stuff that works have a downside.

Still seems like an easy diet to keep

Anybody do it ?

DOOOOOG

my dad has done it along with my step mom

man were they bitchy for a while, (sorry mods that the only word mild enough to call them) basically you eat all the meat and protein you want and cut the carbs out.

they did lose the pounds in a fast amount of time. but of course you have to keep up with it. and it is HARD. everything and anything alot of times have carbs. once you stop it and starting eat carbs it comes back pretty fast.

But i heard you shouldn't do it for long amounts of time

From all the medical personnel I have talked to (my wife being one), the Atkins diet is unhealthy long term. Just exercise and eat right and drop the fad diets.

Lower the amount of carbs, do not eliminate them all together. That way, you are less likely to binge.

eating slower and not going for seconds is always a a good idea too.

I cut sodas out of my diet complete and been soda free for 6 months and drink water and milk. i dont miss sodas one bit well maybe when im having a hamburger.

The Atkins Diet is good IF you follow the diet perfectly. That means taking the proper supplements. The 3 phases of the plan are designed for long term. The Atkins Diet can be the WORST diet if you cheat on it. It seems that everyone wants to stay on the 2 week induction part and not phase into the other stages.

A tamer version of this same lo carb diet is Sugar Busters. It allows carbs, but they need to be complex carbs.

Here is a really good forum that discusses alot of diets and gives pros and cons and offers some unique features... Just be aware that not everyhing that you read is true, but they do make a concerned effort to back up the info with facts that you can check into...

hope this info can help answer some questions.....
