DUDE, IM GETTIN A.........compaq
ok folks im back with a new computer, its the box i was talking about the other day from a rental place, $10 a week.
its a compaq 4400us celery 1.3 128 meg 40 gig hd 17" monitor 24x lite on burner. not a bad machine since i was on an amd 400 before.
now heres the problem, How do i find out the mobo specs and stuff? there site lists it as a #278636 part number. i looked at it when i added some more memory but didnt notice any names or anything. i didn't strip out parts to look under them so i may have missed some #s
im dying to oc this puppy and see what it will do.it has a rhermaltake fan not sure what model. any info anyone has on this thing will be greatly appreciated.
also if anyone can tell me where to adjust the memory for thi onboard video?
i already searched the forums here for it

To find out system info you can either use Sisoft or a little utility called Belarc Advisor. Both will give a lot of system information that you can then search out- mobo, bios, vidcard, sound... etc.
Goodluck.

Hey, Larr? Can you even open the thing up w/o voiding the warranty/contract?
Reason I ask is, I had a Compaq and that was the deal...they even had these cute little skinny stickers on the back which wrapped around the sides. If they were broken, you is SOL.
Check it out, buddy. |

Well larr, whe I boot this old amptron up, before it checks the mem, it gives a number PM-8200C which is an Amptron number. If it has a bootup splashscreen disable it.
Also the BIOS string at the bottom may help as well
Oh I forgot to mention to google the number

Compaqs barely work at their normal speed, I can't see overclocking one.

I do not like to rent anything, except a few movies.. why rent? when you can own them and not have to worry about having to pay anymore then that in the near future. Quote: Originally posted by NeoStarO1 You rented a computer?

if ya want a real chuckle, the effective apr is 105%
