Trebuchet project

I helped my son with his Science Fair project, his project was a Trebuchet. He made a smaller model out of paper and bing the guy that I am I had to say more power ala Tim Taylor from home improvement. The one I made stands about 2 1/2 ft tall when loaded ( see pics) It will chuck a niced sized rock ( big as a half dollar) across the room. This thing is sweet. I think I am going to try to improve on the design and make it better. It was alot of fun building and testing it. I am just hope he finished all of his other work with his friend so that they can enter this one and one that his friend built.
The Science Fair is this weekend so I will let you know if he places or even gets to enter it.

Forgot to mention that the orange thing on the back is a removable canister for more or less weight.

Kc - thanks I plan on making a better one ( bigger ) for next year. Unfortunatly he is unable to enter the science fair this year. His partner did not finish his part of the project. I was pretty upset but hey it was worth it just for the experience.

TKOP - I saw that I was going to download it to check it out for the next one that I build. Thanks

There was a dentist here in N. Texas that was wanting to build one big enough to chunk a Buick!
I think that project has gone by the wayside, haven't heard much about it lately.
He did/does have one now that can throw a toilet several hundred yards...

The mind boggles, desmo!!

The images that conjures up - a bit like the commercial we have here for Toyota utes where the man sitting on the dunny in an outhouse gets blasted into the air on it....

Bugga, they say!

Cheers
Mick

Ahh, the joiys of Trebuchets. I made one out of balsa wood, but it was very unreliable (bad glue). They are fun though. Through chicken nuggets across the room
