You got to be proud of her work.

Trying to stamp out theft.

Good luck to her in her future endeavors.

Maybe so, but still, pretty weird....she announces her leaving just one day after the Verizon court ruling?

When I first saw this thread, I thought of a person of conscience being disgusted over this affront to due process; that is, RIAA can now gain access to private ISP info without a warrant...AFAIK, a previously unheard-of situation, and possibly an irreversable breach of the right to privacy!

Maybe so? Rosen's only been CEO since 1998....

How did I know Epi would say that

But seriously she has done way more than stamp out theft, she may have opened doors that will start to erode our privacy. Dealing with piracy in this manner is like nuking a city a get rid of the rats.

If you want privacy send your stolen information via UPS.

Not over an electronic network. It will cost you an arm and a leg to do so and you will have to wait until your frind rips you a copy but oh well.

I'll just stick to downloading, just like millions of other Americans. Screw the RIAA and that hag. Good riddance.

Srew RIAA, Screw artists, screw investors, screw small business. Why should you pay for things you want when you can steal them.

This is different how from stealing? RIAA is pushing for personal information why? I know for money but artists are due money for what they do on earth today.

You make something you decide how much to charge, People buy it or not.

I buy the CDs I like. I download the one-hit-wonder songs I like. I rank this about the same as jay walking on my scale of illegal activities. Get over it.

And your j-walking is forcing the erosion of your rights. Good for you.

One hit wonders are the most important ones to pay for. They will receive little for their gem. So you buy only from the really rich ones and guarantee the one hit wonders never get a chance at number two.

BTW J-walking, drug, and illegal sex acts only directly affect the person doing them. Where as stealing takes money which is rightfully someone elses and appropriates is for oneself.

Directly affects the persons life in a direct kinda indirect sorta way.

I think instead of attacking us they should work with us. Why do we copy music off the web??? Well, its free for one. CD's are just plain insane in their costs! Ever pay $20 for a cd and find 2 or maybe 3 songs you like??? I have, a ton of times. Another reason is just that, you can pick which songs you like and which you don't.

Well usuing this information they should hit sites such as kazaa with the option of subscriberships, or even better would be start their own service! Make a P2P service that costs $10-20 a month and you can download all the music you want (I'd keep it music right now). Each artist shared has to meet certain requirements before they are excepted into as a payed member. if their music is download x amount of times they get get payed z per song downloaded. So say Tim and His Little Men (made up band) has a new hit Eating Cheese on the Moon, and it gets downloaded 1,000 times in a day he then hits the pay limit and starts getting payed say $0.10 a download, or so. If he hits another limit of say 10,000 then perhaps he'll get $0.20 a download. If they don't hit the 1,000 limit they don't get payed anything for that song. Album info could be stored online like MS does with its WM8 & 9, so you would have the album art. I think fighting it is stupid, face the future and make money with it!
