What is your "side" project?
I just found myself working on illustrations for a friend's 'Kids Book' project...one of these days I'm gonna hit lightning with one of these little "Projects"... ....
And I was wondering, how many people here have a "side" project...something apart from the work that pays the bills...the kind of thing, maybe it'll grow and make you rich and famous, or maybe just something you really like creating?

No real "side" project here, unless you call my consulting for the dentists a "side" project... I audit their clinics for infection control standards... every bit helps a little; extra cash is never turned away...
The only other "side" project would be Find-a-drug, but that don't pay money... only satisfaction that I'm helping something important.
Cheers
Mick

I have a small lab and mess around with tissue culture---been replicating genetic copys of specific strains of plant material for a few years now---ive actually had some dramatic results im very proud of, I just need to upgrade my lab which actually means, I need a new house---no need for fame and $$$, I do have a desire not to be a SSI recipient tho...

My side project is taking surplus pc parts and putting them together for a half-way house.. and so far I've only actually delivered 3 complete systems. Most of the parts I get are hit and miss but I don't mind. More will come our way. I have hit up everyone I know and try to tell all my customers from my appliance biz. I did put one together recently for a small private school that had a fire and lost everything. They wanted at least one pc for the kindergartners to use. I think I will try to get more put together for them as 1 pc for 15 little squirmers is not enough. I don't get paid for that stuff and my wife gets irritated at all the parts stacked up, but I tell her I could be out in the bars.

Find-a-drug is a great distributed computing project which looks for ways to make better cancer treatment drugs, and other health related stuff. It runs the same current research as the more popular United Devices project, but with a much better software program - IMO, anyway.
It's only a small DC at present, but TechIMO has a Team and is on the lookout for new members (see our recruitment thread here. )
So, Knothead, now you have to join!!
Cheers
Mick PS I knew the custom title would be useful someday!! | |

I have a wife,5 kids,2 cars,and 7 animals to feed,and I'm self-employed, no such thing as a side job Just one endless work cycle.
I like to write and play music in my little recording studio when I have time, but no money in, it only goes out.
Life is good if ya don't weaken too much
Mick, I was wondering what that was about myself. I was hoping you weren't conducting buisness in the alley or something

Rebuilding a car. Won't make me famous, but proud when I finish it.
But currently, certifications studies and job searching have priority over it.
