Dry skin. Agggghhhh!

Anyone here get mad dry skin in the winter? With the recent cold snap my skin has dried up like you wouldn't believe. Even with body lotion to put some moisture back in and a humidifier it's still painful.

Anyone have some suggestions on how to fix it. It's driving me nuts.

Sorry, last time I got "dry skin" it was on my legs and I scratched myself into an infection (so I forgot to stop scratching )

However Benydryl will help if it's itchy, moisturizing buble bath also works well, You may also want to try Baby oil, (don't know if it's good for you, but it seems to kep moisture in)

Jergen's Ultra Healing lotion works wonders for me. No real scent and it doesn't make me feel all greasy either.

I've been using Vaseline Intensive Care moisturizing stuff, but it isn't doing much. Grrrr.

Greetings... I get this sometimes in XtremeCold (it sucks). Some helpful tips as I am allergic to many Skin lotions/Deodorants and perfumes/colognes... so I was forced to learn about this stuff. Make sure that the lotion you use is HypoAllergenic and has no Alcohol in it (which means it will be scent free and not contain any form of Isopropyl anything). Lotions that are not Hypo and contain some form of Alcohol actually drie your skin out more (in the long run) and make matters worse- they also cause a body dependency on them (since you are required to use them more often, the body stops producing its natural moisturizers forcing you to use more often- this is the same with LipBalms). When ya shower, make sure ya "scrape" your skin good with a washclothe or body sponge to get the dried/dead skin off, exfoliate. This will force the Body to produce more of its natural moisturizers and assist in keeping the "good" skin from drying out.

Hope this was helpful and GoodLuck with the irritating dry skin- what I dislike the most is when (not being inappropriate) your chest and nipples dry out- wearing a shirt can become a painful/irritating experience.

I use Keri lotion; seems to work well. So does Nivea.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

Mortis, right now it's down the sides of my torso, below my arms. Everytime I move my arms it hurts. Thanks for the suggestions, hopefully one of them will work out.

Curel for your cream. (nothing else in a pump bottle is as good as this stuff for treating dry skin.)
Neutrigena liquid shower gel for your soap.

If it's really bad use a bath oil to drench yourself after your shower before you get out of the shower.

Also cod liver oil caps seem to help.

edit*** willy, Fingers had the same stuff you're talking about I think (from reading your post) Curel everyday for a week cleared it up.

E45 cream can work in some cases,
