TechIMO hams?

Hello everybody.
I am a ham radio operator, as some have determined by my member name. I was just wondering if anyone else out there is a member of the amateur community. Who knows, if there's enough of us, maybe we could start a net or something.
I tried doing a search in the forums for "ham" and I got all kinds of interesting recipes, but no "amateur radio" posts. Just curious if I was all alone (well, I know I'm not, but who else is out there?).

Cheers
Mick

If I wasn't in the area I was, I would run 2 meters. Darn the valleys in between mountains.

I am a ham but I do not have a radio nor do take part in amateur radio.

Seriously though I can't think of any off the top of my head.

BTW where else do you find valleys???

I have never seen any on the plains
nor can I find a valley on top of the mountain.
heh

n3uxf- I hate them valleys too (not that we have them here in NY though)

Centurion- Are you active at all on VHF/UHF? I don't have a lowband license yet (prolly won't for about a month) but it would be nice to speak with a fellow TechIMO-er .

I'm currently working through two books; "now you're talking" by the arrl and RadShack's "technician's license" test question book.
the parts I find most difficult are electricity theory and antennas. I'm graduating from college in may, and I want to be done with all classroom stuff by then (incl of course ham licensing). eventually I'll get certified in code, but for now I just want to get on the air. once I get my paper license, I'd like to get into packet radio, or broadcasting over the web using radios and computers.
it's a cool hobby...for now I just listen in on my police scanner.
help with subject matter would be great...pm me and we'll chat.
btw, you can call me Branson.
I'm soon to be a ham! whoo hoo

That's funny surreal.

StealthyV- I just met the author the the radioshack books (Gordon West) at a local ham club meeting and he is a very intelligent man. I would trust any book which he has written to be a difinitive source for information.
