Would this be tolerated in the USA?
You've all probably heard the news yesterday of a mosque in London being raided by the police with three known terrorists arrested and a quantity of guns, weapons, stolen credit cards, computers etc taken away.
However, in Birmingham, a city in the middle of England, there is a mosque called 'The Saddam Hussein mosque'.
Is there anything like this in the US, or other friendly countries, or are we here in the UK just stupid not to do anything about this?
I know this might be a touchy subject, but hey, it would be a bit like having an 'Adolf Hitler memorial hall' in London in 1943 well it wouldn't have happened - why do we then let something like this happen today??

1) Saddam and Hussain are common Arabic/Moslem names.
2) THE Saddam Hussain has a lot of support in UK/US and gets lot of funds from these countries from expatrate Arab population.
I don't think UK Government is stupid.
At least not collectively and in the normal sense of the term.
Of course parts of any government can be stupid so who knows. | |

But, you know, Jonty, I don't think its another SH.
They ought to investigate and then demolish it if there are any links to terrorist activities.

In fact, the money for the mosque was donated by Saddam Hussein back when he was on our side (that is, against Iran), and the name hasn't been changed.

Well, the general idea in the US is to allow anyone to say or do as they please as long as they do not harm others. Yes, we have Saddam and Bin Laden sympathizers, and yes there are plenty of organizations that support dubious causes like those English mosques did. We are finding out about plenty of them and rooting them out. We have to tread lightly though, because one wrong move towards a mosque or other entity where nothing is found would result in a nation-wide cry against racism. We have arrested an untold number of operatives, spies, sleeper cell members and their supporters, yet many Americans find it unjust and want these people released.
So to answer, we do have things like this and we are doing some things to get them, but we are treading very lightly on our own soil.
