Save Firefly - Joss Whedon Fans Unite!

Okay, so in a world on the verge of war, nuclear chemical and biological blackmail, and international terrorism, this is the cause i choose to take up? Well, i haven't turned a blind eye, but life does go on. (for those of us that life actually does go on for, anyway...)

Actually, the show (for those that have seen it) has an interesting element to it that i think is fairly relevant to the political world as it stands today...

Anyway, Firefly is a refreshingly unique show created by a refreshingly unique writer/producer, Joss Whedon - creator of BTVS and Angel. There have been many simply brilliant moments woven through the tapestry of these shows, and firefly promises to deliver more brilliance.

FOX, however, in their shortsightedness, has decided not to purchase additional episodes.

This is where you come in... the voice of the people (err... well, the people who care, anyway) may yet save the fledgling show. Not necessarily on FOX, but perhaps on another network.

Please sign the petition if you would like to see Firefly continue to grace the airwaves (or cablewaves, depending on where it lands) and continue to grow and mature into another brilliant series.

Yes, this from the network that cancelled futurama and the family guy yet keeps putting out quality programming like "who wants to marry a millionaire" and that one about the poor guy they tell those women (prostitutes) is rich.

Firefly was an excellent show. Not sure why they do what they do. Hopefully someone picks it up. It would be a waste to let it go. Look what happened with Dark Angel. That was an excellent show, and it was cancelled.

Sam - i feel your pain. I have the same problem with UPN - the fledgling network doesn't know what responsibility to the viewer is yet. They may learn the hard way. They have bounced so many great shows around so many times that viewers no longer know which way is up or when their show will be on. Mostly it's due to sporting events which the local affiliates contract. However - as is the case with Buffy - they purchased the show from the WB (oh how i long for the days when it was on WB!!!) and have aired Buffy less than half the times it should have - usually replaced by basketball. Not just reruns - new episodes, too. And it's never clear exactly when it will be on. I've written them several times about this, and they don't see it as a problem.

Anyway, this petition is aimed at marketing Firefly to the competitos of FOX, so as long as UPN doesn't get it, I'm happy! Hopefully the cause can count on your signatures!
