The media is pervasive in all areas now, so an aberrant local home-town occurrence that has happened dozens/hundreds/thousands of time now gets national media top billing and the obviously manipulation from both sides for political gain.

Yes I agree, very sad.

But what about situations where a gun saved lives or prevented a crime?

guns are fine, people just need to follow some common sense

- dont give kids guns and leave them unsupervised; ie.. after shooting, take their gun and put it away (if you give a kid a gun, teach them gun safety... sheesh)

would have possibly prevented:
Green Bay (WI) Press-Gazette, 1/1/2003

- dont leave your guns out in easily accessible areas, drawers, vegtable crisper, ect

would have possibly prevented:
Lexington (KY) Herald-Leader, 1/2/2003
The Detroit News, 1/6/2003

- teach kids who dont have guns safety too; ex. "hmm whats this shiny thing, i will pull this thing, since my parents tried to keep things of this matter hidden from me and i have no idea what it is"

would have possibly prevented:
The Columbian (WA), 1/14/2003

unless of course it is a murder, as in:
The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA), 1/3/2003
The Indianapolis Star, 1/6/2003
Philadelphia Daily News, 1/13/2003
Star Tribune (Minneapolis/St. Paul), 1/17/2003

in which case try as adults

dont blame the guns.. thats like blaming violent video games for school shootings (lame and untrue)

me-
constant violent video games -yet to knock over a subway (the sandwich place, not the train place)
pro guns -yet to shoot myself or others

just my opinion..

That darwin stuff is good as long as the kids who died were genetically stupid and not just ignorant. In most of the cases the parents were proven stupid.

This should not be happening, these kids shouldn't be able to get within a mile of those things.
