Maybe Canada Will Finally Get It
By which I mean understand the tough decisions that the United States has to make in dealing with foreign threats, and stop bad-mouthing us for making choices the rest of the world is to weak to make. It appears that now not even Canadians are safer than Americans when traveling or living abroad. Washington Times Story
Canada finally makes the "tough decision" last yearto ban the activities of the terrorist group Hezbollah within its borders, and now the Lebanese ambassador is quoted as saying "I am afraid it will be urgent for a Canadian to wear a non-Canadian T-shirt in Lebanon and the Arabic world." Basically he says that displaying Canadian pride or just trying to say "hey I'm from Canada, not from here, so don't expect me to be on the up and up" can make you a target. Well, it's not really surprising. In a way it is though because I don't know how Lebanon gets an ambassador to anywhere. It's just a big (small) terrorist state.
So now that Canadians aren't "safe" anymore (which is silly to say because no Western nation really has been for a while now), perhaps they will be forced to make some more tough decisions in the future. I pray those decisions will not have to be based on the loss of Canadian lives as American decisions have been, but I do hope that Canada learns that you can't just "make nice" with people (and I use that word in it's loosest sense) who wish to kill you for being you.
On another note, I certainly hope that we do to Hezbollah and Hamas what we've done to Al Queda and the Taliban. It will have the unfortunate effect of escalating the violence for a while in the Middle East, but in the end, Israelis and Palestinians will both benefit from it.

Sorry to say this Mr. Goodbytes, but I doubt they'll get it! They tend to stay/think in their own little world and think the big world outside has/cares little about them.

Can I say F#ck You! and all that think like you probably not
You see I dont think ALL AMERICANS think as you do, there are many that can think for themselves and logically too. Many Canadians do not always agree what their government says let alone does and I have seen that in the US too, so dont EVER bundle every Canadian [or anyone for that matter] together my boy!

| Darn, gotta scratch those places of my vacation list, I was really looking forward to going there and seeing all the people walking around with AK47's. Maybe we should start kicking people outta our country that fly others flags, or just shoot them.
This guy is an Idiot, Oh and I agree, please refrain from thinking that all canadians are properly represented by our government.

| ... If "Mr. Goodbytes" post was converted into slamming the USA and changing all of the "stupid decisions" comments over to other (controversial) American weaknesses, we all know that the thread would be locked and those comments wouldn't be allowed on these forums.
It's sad. This "Mr. Goodbytes" (lol..) character seems to have some deeply troubling psychological issues to deal with.
Besides... So what if we're not welcomed in a POS country as much as we used to be? If it were the U.S.'s problem, the country (and surrounding countries) would probably be huge plumes of dust and smoke at this point... And for whatever reason, American soldiers would be coming back as heros and given countless awards for blowing innocent women and children to smitherines.
.. Give and you shall recieve.

Hahaha... thinking anyone is properly represented by their government is like thinking there is a form of government out there that actually works right!

I have seen plenty of american bashing go with out moderator challenge. I think you are dead wrong about the moderators on this one. If it were the U.S.'s problem, the country (and surrounding countries) would probably be huge plumes of dust and smoke at this point... And for whatever reason, American soldiers would be coming back as heros and given countless awards for blowing innocent women and children to smitherines.[
Again completely false. Pakistan, Iran, lebenon, even libia still are not smoldering piles of ashes. You seem to be prone to american hating fantasies.
Let me ask you this.
What evidence does President George Bush have on the Iraqis?

| I agree with Epi on this.
I will add that this is not something that too many people are concerned about, However to think that we must act because someone doesn't like us anymore is childish, Personally I've never cared if someone didn't like me, it's thier problem not mine, Why would I start being offended now? It has no relevance to me. I do get offended with stereotyping tho, I have seen/heard a lot of Americans do/say ignorant things, but this doesn't mean that every one of them does. (someone with US plates asking how much further north they had to go to hit snow in July was pretty funny, told them go north for about another 48Hrs, they thought I was joking)
I try not to stereotype, and I think I was wrong in saying that all people over there carry around AK47's, I'm sure there's some other types of guns too. <jj>
