Hey ! WhAT'S WRONG WITH NYC ?
Awwww ! Anti--US rallies all over the World ...Huh ? No anti-Saddam Rallies ? No "Anti-President-for-Life Let Thy People Go !" rallies ?
Ah ! here in NYC the World Capital of just about everything. Not much by way of rallies.. Maybe they have gone to WashDC--the Capital of Numbskullism aka Our Beloved Congress.
Good news , Folks. Hollywood to Broadway to the Beltway !
Sen. Hilllary gives up some Committee membership to be put on the Military Affairs Committee or such. Anybody know what the sports-term "frontrunner" mean when applied to "fans". ?
But here in NYC, not much by way of demo's...
Nope.
Maybe the memory still lingers...

What Will People Believe Next ?
The "minders" who, well, mind, visitors for the vERY popular Iraqui President Saddam, regularly take visitors to a childrens hospital to see all the starving children the US is "Responsible for with its sanctions".
Ah ! but now we find warheads. rather a costly toy--for a Gov't that once sparked a war by invading Kuwait.
Gee, I just wonder what the demonstrators will "allow": A) war (bad) OR b) sanctions (gee, starving kids despite the Saddams efforts to place food in his people's stomach and spare nothing, even limiting his Presidential Palaces to a mere half-dozen rather than a full-dozen).
Hey, but with all them Presidential Palaces, money must been had go to build them, homes could have been built..Never mind, with inverse thinking, even facts can be overlooked.
And of course, the "minders" will mind anybody foolish enough to go off the Gov't approved route and a people who love Saddam so much the minders listen to the conversation , eager to here all that adulation for the man who bought them to all this.

...and do you know what the most amazing thing is?
These poor people are getting royally f*****, by their government, and yet they cheer Saddam!
What is THAT about? Are we talking about an entire country of mental retards, or a whole nation completely insulated from reality and reason?
Either way, I have heard nothing about political dissent in this region, but I hear PLENTY of pro-Hussein sentiment....coming from the very people who are getting pranged there. HUH?!?

I once read that applause went on for 45 minutes to an hour after Stalin spoke because one sad gentleman who stopped applauding after 30 minutes was promptly shot. People had such fear of Stalin that they would say or do anything they had to in order to survive. I would suspect the same can be said of the folks in Iraq.
You also have to think that we're not the most popular country in their eyes. Whether you're wrong or not, when someone bombs you back to the stone age and then cuts off your means of sustenance and livelihood, it has to make you angry. The fact the Saddam himself brought it upon them is beside the point. They can't do anything about Saddam and the anger has to go somewhere.
And I, for one, am glad to see the protests. When we stop seeing protests because they're outlawed or just abandoned due to lack of interest, then I'll be concerned.

| Well, it's either cheer the psycho or get yourself and your whole family tortured and murdered for bad-mouthing him. If for nothing else, that alone is enough reason to oust him and his entire Blood Ba'ath Party.
