ok now my question

what is the military "rules" in the USA?

so do you have to go to the military for 6 months for a training if they need you? (like in switzerland) or is it to you if you want to go? or can they just take some normal guys and put them in the war?

currently we are 100% volunteer and professional armed forces

unless u count the few peps who got in trouble with the law and it was armed forces or jail thingy...

as vagabond said, its all volunteers
They join the armed services (army, navy, air force, marines, coast guard?, national guard) of their own free will and generally serve 4 years by contract, then their free to choose whether they'd like to stay in the services or move back to civilian life.... TMK anyways there maybe other deals with the GI bill etc.

(GI Bill, is when you serve your time in the military and the gov't gives you a sum of money to pay for university etc.)
