Cable Mess Need Help

Hey,

I have an old TV and an old VCR that I want to hook up to a new SAT (satelite receiver).

My current setup allows me to view VCR and SAT on the TV.
But it doesn't allow me to record from the SAT.

Here is an image with the available connectors on each device:

So how can I set this all up and be able to record from SAT as well?

Thanks!

I am a little confused by your description

If I stretch the solution is here

I do not see where the cable from your sat dish connects to the whole thing.

figure 2 at the bottom describes how I read your diagram.

Sorry I am not good with technical diagrams, here is my current set up which does not allow me to record from SAT:

As you see, I cant find a way to have output coming from the SAT going to input on the VCR.

Wait, I thought that >RF in< would be another input. I think your best bet would be to get a splitter. That is what I use. Set it up so the output from the SAT will go to the TV and the VCR.

I suggested a switch before a splitter or combiner. Depending on where you put the splitter/combiner two different signals at the same frequency. This would be bad.

vern if you can show where to place your splitter/combiner I may stand corrected. But if you take the output from box a on channel 3 and box b on channel 3 you will get nasty results.

If you set them to unique channels then it might work but then you would need to keep tuning the vcr or tv to achive the desired devices signal.
