Black Vs White name

Just heard something on the TV and wanted to know what everyone else though: There was a study done that compared the likliness of a person with a white-sounding name to get a job, to that of a person with a black-sounding name. The results concluded that, when only a resume was read, a white-person name was 50% more likely to get a job.

It was on FOX, so I'll try and find a link to the story.

My 2 cents: I hate race. I wish it wasn't here. This report just puts more fuel on the fire, and I think was not needed. Then again, I could bring affirmative action into the whole deal, but I would just go off on that lame subject.

FOX is am openly biased Right wing ultra conservative channel. They have zero credibility in their reporting as everyone knows exactly what stand they will take.

Seems to me the people who run FOX are not that bright. If they were, at least they'd be subtle about it.

In other words, whites received a callback for every 10 resumes mailed, but blacks had to send 15 to spark interest.

1 call back for every 10 resumes I wish! I've probably sent out more like 50 with no call back. This "study" probably has accuracy of + or -5 so 10 or 15 is probably not much of a difference

I will say that the editorials are biased at fox but the reporting is generally balanced more than CNN ABC and alike.

fox has broken many stories which were ignored by the "mainstream media".

IDK bout you but the fact that they broke this story just makes your statement seem all the more foolish.

So shahani, if a network is openly biased, they have zero credibility? Therefore, we could say the same thing about the three major networks, the New York Times, the Washington Post, etc, etc, etc.

Anyway, calling any network "right-wing ultra-conservative" is a ridiculously biased statement in itself.

Why do people that complain about racism concern themselves so much about pointing out the differences, What I mean is why do blacks run around crying about all the unjustice because they are black (when a lot of the time it's not true and would have happened even if they were white), they create a problem so no one wants to hire them because if they fire them even for just cause they get picked apart because "he fired me because I'm Black" why would anyone want to subject themselves to that?

I don't know If I've worded this correctly, I hope this doesn't offend anybody, if it did sorry. A rule I always lived by is "you made your bed, now lie in it" So If they want this to stop they should stop crying about how they were fired for sleeping on the job was completely because they were black and they want thier job back or thier gonna sue.......
