Systems Just got laidoff.

Although I knew it would come eventually, I was finally laidoff this morning. Working at a truss factory that is dependent upon the housing market means that I don't really have much of a choice. They were kind enough to let me finish the rest of the morning shift, but even that ended up being hell. They already laid 4 guys off on Friday and I was supposed to be one of them, but wasn't told because I only work two days a week. After being told, a couple of the other guys in the shop kept telling me that I wasn't supposed to be there. Grrr. It still sucks though because I've got 2 grand worth of tuition to pay later this month, plus gas to buy to get back and forth to school. Man this sucks.

Well I thought this was probably the best place to vent my frustration. Things should pick up in a month or so, but till then things are gonna suck.

Guess I'll just have to concentrate as much as possible on my school work.

Sucky. I been laid off since August or September. Don't even remember now. Fortunately I don't have tuition or anything to pay. Can you collect UE? It helps a lot. I'd have lost my car if not for that.

I'm one of the lucky ones that survived our layoffs but it's one of those things that you don't want to be around after a nuclear attack.

In my big corporation, it was pretty heartless on how they let people go. You get an email to report to the conference room to get the word that you are laid off. You are escorted back to your desk to get your things and out the door. The email just said an important meeting required your attendance. There were people that ignored the email or were at home when they tried to figure out what kind of meeting was going on. One manager had to tell someone over the phone whom he had worked with over 10 years that the person was laid off.

Best thing to do is to move on. Good luck.

I'm sorry, Willy_ph. I hope you find something very soon and have as little trouble as possible in the meantime. I will keep you in my prayers to find a new job.
Dave

Sorry to hear your troubles.... I am sure that once the republicans get the tax breaks passed the economy will turn right around.
