I've always been fascinated by Japan too, never been there though. It is supposed to be a very conservative country and everyone is polite etc etc. Whether that is still the case now I wouldn't know. I know they have a fascination with anything English, and the English langauge too.

Very expensive to visit there. Example: can of coke: $3, beer bottle: $7, hotels are prohibitively expensive and rooms very small.

Japanese people are very nice and polite.

Communicating is somewhat problemmatic.

Japanese people by and large still think they are the most superior race on the planet. This is never expressed but assumed.

Japan has some very spectacular natural beauty and the place is extremely clean and society very ordered. Very disciplined people.

I'm pretty sure that Thud is stationed in Japan. Maybe you could pm him for some info.

KenKun lives there, so I imagine he'll be able to put in his .02 too
Maybe wake up Mike, he's familiar with those parts

Thud is definitely in Japan. I had mailed him some computer parts a few months ago. He's at some Military Base. Kenkun and he should be able to give insight into life in Japan as well as cool places to visit.

Well I really enjoyed going to Hiroshima. The prices aren't that high, unless you are in Tokyo. If you do get lost somewhere and want to ask for directions, chances are you'll get the directions you need on the first try.
I know what it's like to go to like NYC and Boston...If they people don't know they just B.S. you directions.

People in Japan are very kind as long as you don't step on their toes. For example, if you are respectful towards them they will be respectful towards you. (I don't think that will be a problem for you.)
My mom went to Japan a few months ago, her airplane ticket along with my little brother's cost about $800.
I will type up more specific details about certain areas in Japan once I wake up!

Some other general questions.. When did you want to go? Summer or Winter? Also, how much do you want to spend? Ohh why I am at it, how about one more question: Any idea on what you want to visit?
