Printing Project

Hey Guys,

I'm a student who is doing a magazine project for a journalism class. Me and my project partner are developing a 50 page magazine, and are sort of running late on our stuff. We are going to create and edit the thing in Word, and then convert the files to Adobe Acrobat files, so that we can send them to a place that will make a few copies via digital offset printing.

However, there's one thing I forgot to ask the printing place - and now they're closed. Maybe you guys can answer this. Should I make each individual 8.2 x 10.8 page, or do I need to double up? It's just that I noticed that magazines are usually printed two pages at a time, and was wondering if I needed to do this in the editing/creation process - or whether or not the printing place is likely to, or has the capability to take each individual page and put it in the correct order.

Any info you can provide would be awesome... Thanks!!!

X2

Good Morning. I'm on my way to Fontana Lithograph in 90 min. I'm a bookbinder. You likely need the pdf in page number order only. A PDF file is for your use, when it goes to press it will be in another format. If you were given any guidelines, re-read them and try to follow them closely. Changes can be expensive. If there is a company website look in the pre-press section. IMO, dual page spreads are not what you want. But, your mileage may vary.Pagination depends on the format for efficent layout to save waste. Fancy way to say that a sheet is not 4 consecutive page numbers. Only the center 4page is. Brian

I'm a little confused... So do I or don't I need one long sheet in each PDF file which is 2 pages. (like, in a 48 page magazine, Page 1 would be with Page 48 in a single PDF file, which is what I'm thinking you may be saying) -> Option B in the attachment.

It's either that, or have a single side of a single page in each PDF file... Which is what I would LIKE to do. *shrug* (Option A in my attachment)

I've attached a PDF file with the first two options in the image illustrating what I just talked about. Any clarification is greatly appreciated...thanks

i'm sure that they will sort it out for you. Just make sure that you tell them that you have provided the pages in numerical order and they should be able to split it for you.

Just single page it. That is option A. If for no other reason, easiest to work with. Brian
