you're 16 years old and drinking whiskey? Where are your parents? Are you raiding thier liquor cabinet?

I think you can find much better things to do with your time other than drinking whiskey.

Before anyone can drink whiskey they have to understand why it burns their tongue. You failed, Lemon, so desist of taking the stuff until you figure it out.

I ain' gonna tell ya.

Cheers
Mick

firstly i'm not drinking Jack Daniels (whiskey), i'm drinking Famous Grouse (whisky).
secondly, it is legal to drink at my age here in the UK. and as i see it unless i'm extremely irresponsible with my drinking, i am okay.

I could be out impregnating young women, or taking e's or takign part in bar fights. but I am at home, relaxing after a VERY hard week's work at school with a couple of glasses of whisky.

and i'm wondering why it feels warm when you drink it!

Try a mouthful of curry pepper, Lemon.

Now, start a thread asking why it burns your tongue.

Whisky contains alcohol, myboy. Your tongue is full of taste and pressure receptors. What do you think happens when you pour alcohol on it?

Just because it's legal for you to drink whiskey doesn't mean you should - in large quantities, at least.

Drink enough and you'll be able to answer all of your own questions! (not correctly, but will you care?)

Cheers
Mick

Yah...but in equal amounts, it doesnt mean that i shouldnt. it's up to the drinker. In all honesty i have a bottle of whisky that i COULD down if i was a complete drunkard. i've had 2 or 3 nips and that's me.

but anyway, i get that it has a lot of alcohol in it (40% and this is cheap famous grouse), but why is that warming. what im basically asking is what is behind the warming "properties" of alcohol.

i use inverted commas as it is a myth, it does not actually warm you up, just makes you feel like you are.

Old cowboys can take it!

Lemon,

You'd never make it as a cowboy! Remember all the hundreds of old western movies you've seen in the past? Well, not one of those cow punchers who ambled up to the bar and downed their shots of whiskey ever complained about it being too hot on the tongue! Jeez little buddy get a grip. BTW, 40 proof whiskey is kid's stuff.
