Systems Camcorder Question

I got a sharp camcorder today (freebie),and can't see anything in the viewfinder. Does this mean it's toast?? Or is there something I'm missing as far as a setting? I have checked all the settings at least half a dozen times. All the lights are on, lens zooms in and out. Tape turns, everything seems to work, and yes I have the lens cap OFF

I can't even find a downloadable manual for the thing which might be helpful.

It's a Sharp Model # VL-L510U

All help is appreciate, Thanx

does it have the side led thing you can pull out?
My lensfinder doesn't work if I have that out.. You can only use one at a time.

Hey, I had one of those stolen from my house, how'd you get it for free???? JJ, um haven't checked sharp, but if it has a vid out try hooking it up to a TV and see if there is a picture if so it might be the viewfinder is toast.

did I say sharp I meant sony

I went to sharp but nothing, can't even get anything on the searchI thought the manual would be helpful. Can't find that either.Great support

Surreal, It has a door on the top hiding the VCR funtion switches, and says it won't record witout the door closed, which it is.Nothing else.

I'll hook it to the TV in a while and see what happens.Hopefully no smoke, or sparks
