I'm sorry, did my thread get deleted?

I'm pretty sure I asked yesterday how would some device work.
Today, I can't find the thread.

Did it get deleted, or was the accursed proxy nonfunctional again and lost my thread?

The thread title was 'How does a neutron bomb work'.

The neutron bomb works by having a little explosion, but creating a lot of radioactivity (short lived radioactivity) - thereby leaving buildings & infrastructure intact - but killing the population.

Ok. That answers the main question I had. However, the question was like 10pages long

The main reason I asked the question was because of the movie 'Fortress'.
Those who've seen it remember the sentinel gun of the prison that shot a burst of neutrons at one of the prisoners leaving a hole in his stomach.
I was wondering how could the atoms evaporate from the human being just by being hit by neutrons (no charge, and that according to my wife) means the atoms should not react to the particles.

Well their not having charge doesn't make them insignificant particles. They're just not ionic, that's all.

Not having a charge means only that there's no electrostatic repulsion, as there would be for a proton, to impede their penetrating the positively-charged nucleus. But neutrons can interact strongly with matter; after all, the chain reaction in a nuclear weapon begins with a uranium or plutonium nucleus absorbing a slow neutron.

As for the movie: remember, special effects are not necessarily scientifically sound. You might as well ask about the principle behind the time machine in Back to the Future.

I'm voting for the accursed proxy nonfunctional again and lost my thread method.
We do not just delete threads. We have a little secret place that we put something that we feel doesn't belong in the public forums. I checked, it ain't there . Darn accursed proxy!

Does that mean I'm not getting that flux capacitor I ordered in the mail?

I don't appreciate that tone.

The thing with special effects is, that you need to understand how technology works to know it cannot happen. I sucked at chemistry and physics.

I do know how a time machine would work - when going into the future, but not back.

Also, the theory (as with the time machine) is often known before any appliances that use it can be made.
