Lousy week for Commercial Aviation. 2 Down. 100 dead.
Harbinger RGT.
Beech 1900D. Goes down in NC. United Press
Turkish Airlines Bae 146. Austin Statesman
On the latter, I've heard today, this aircraft described as an Arvo, and an RG.
'Journos' with 'NFI'. I wanted to have a spray!...
What really matters, is lost souls.
But for 'the grace of god' go I. R.

(CNN) -- On a clear, cold and windy day at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, Tommy Stacey was standing outside when he heard an unusual noise, shortly after a US Airways Express/Air Midwest commuter plane took off.
"I heard a sputtering noise -- something like a boat sputtering on the water," Stacey said. "I saw the plane going straight up into the air. And then all of a sudden, it just flipped over and started nose-diving straight into the ground."

Now the news stations are reporting that the baggage handler who loaded that plane refused to sign off on it because he felt it was overloaded. His supervisor signed the form instead and ok'd the plane to take off. I wonder if his supervisor can sleep at night now.

I've seen too many crashed military planes, it would be much worse seeing a civilian craft with women & children aboard.
Years ago, two F-105's crashed a couple miles away from my house.
I heard them hit, ran out to see magnesium sparkles in the air then the 2nd plane hit the mountain.
A sliding dash up the mountain to the site yielded machine gun bullets in webbing lying a low burning fire.
Upon retreat I met the fire engine, they said it was a Piper..
Down in the valley was the body of one of the pilots, he was still strapped in the ejection seat.
Another time in the CAP, we searched for parts off a Tilt-Rotor plane that did not exist until 6 years later. The Osprey.
Still today, over 3 decades later, they're crashing killing the occupants.
Once, we survived a near brush with a tornado while in the air.
Mucho long story.
Airplanes are inherently unsafe, if the motor quits or you have structural failure, you don't just pull over.
