Serial Experiments Lain - Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the internet.

It's very rare that a TV show can capture the imagination and tap into it in such a way that you look at real life in a diffrent way. Serial Experiments Lain does this, even for a short while.

Okay, so heres some info for you people. Serial Experiments Lain is a TV show that ran in Japan. It's 13 episodes long, and, yes, is one of those crazy anime flicks. But right from the first episode, you realize....this isn't your average anime. Or show, for that matter.

I can't tell you too much about the plot, because not only would I give it away, but you'd think me crazy. Trust me. Basically, the show treats Cyberspace (called The Wired in the show) and the real world as two dimensions that are merging together (close enough), with some wierd crap that happens during the transition. It seems that a young, petite little girl named Lain is caught at ground zero for one reason or another.

I must tell you this if you are intrested in watching the show; it's wierd. That about describes the show, with a large version of Lain steppign through the sky, random images of Lain appearing on Japanese TV, a body-snatched sister, and yes, even aliens all on the same show.

My only complaint is that it ends, and the ending I thought was kinda lame. but oh well....

I reccomend this show to all TIMOians out there, as it's quite a trip on what the internet could mean (or couldn't) for the future.

Yes, I'm bored. And I'm tired. Bad combination.

I have most of the "Serial Experiments Lain" episodes. I really liked the series, mainly for its great atmosphere (especially the sound & powerlines). The whole net culture idea is quite interesting to me & taking dull stuff & hacking it till it does what you want is allways cool. The english version is quite well done I guess but I am not a fan of voice overs, would rather read subtitles.

Lain is probably one of the better anime series IMO, along with the various "Ghost in The Shell" stand alone complex episodes (movie is also good) and the original 4 kenshin episodes (not keen on them after that).

Regards
