How does our Sonicare toothbrush charge?
Today as I was on bathroom cleaning duty I noticed the electric toothbrush was dirty on the charging base. Dang messy kids. Well anyway I'm cleaning it and I notice there are no charging contacts. I look at the handle , none there either . How in the heck does this thing charge? Osmosis?

Well, THANK YOU, Fyxxer! You're a appliance-wise guy, and you're puzzled, too.
I have this Braun swirly-head toothbrush deal, and it is the same. There is no metal contact, just a white plastic base on the tool, and a little white plastic dowel-type holder.
My best guess is that it is charged by airborne microwaves from Germany. darn clever, those Germans
Although, I have noticed it does need to be plugged in to the wall socket. |

i think its magc. we had this old old old toothbrush like that. no contacts. i think they cover the contacts to make it at least partly water resistant.

My thoughts are, the base is the outer half of a transformer, the handle is the core, using a rectifier built into the handle it can charge using magnetizm.
Just a hunch, if you want to check, put it near a disposible TV

As
Wizzard~Of~Ozz suggests, it's almost certainly an induction charger. The Panasonic Shaver has one, too.

| Hmmm? Hey, Wizz, a disposable TV? What's that about? I thought I'd ask before putting it next to my $700 monitor? I wanna SEE! |

Don't take acid first! all the pretty colours.
(magnetic field)
Disposible because I don't know how strong the field is, but if it's strong you might be able to actually use this as a manual degaussing coil |

| OH, YEAH!!
I mean, you still have to floss, but... only because I think so...OTH, these little turbo-marvels clean your teeth like toot-suite and hasta la vista, baby.
The only drawback is that the experience is really annoying. ZZZZZZ-zzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzZZZZZ
Like that. I think it's worth it, but others might not agree. |
