convert small screen tv or monitor into 100" projection TV
I see there are a few links around for these packages you can buy and there is a dude in NZ who is selling them, at 1st I thought it was a scam, but I can almost see how they would work.
Does anybody know anything about these kits or had any experience with them? Does it work, what is the image quality like?
Here is one of the many links about it http://www.earthprofit.com/ |

It certainly looks interesting, and if it is not a scam I am all over it. But it does sound too good to be true.

Hmm, no technician skills required, no disassembly of TV required. So how does it work? TV's don't project from the front, they project from the back. So if you don't disassemble the TV...
If it ain't a scam, I'm starting to lose my scam-smelling abilities.
Cheers
Mick

I'm almost 100% sure this is a scam, resoloution out > the resoloution in cannot work, you cannot sharpen a pixeled image to include data that is not there, (look at your TV with a 5x magnifying glass and that's approx what anything using your TV would look like. Quote:

I've seen these. Yes, you can build a projection unit using your TV and a Fresnel lens; it will cost about $20 in materials; and it will be very dim. Don't waste your money with these guys. If you really want to try it, here's a site offering the plans free.

The rule is, "If it's too good to be true, it's not true." I suppose the rule might have a counterexample somewhere, but I haven't run into one yet.

Let us know how the project (pardon the pun) goes, Vert. Sounds interesting, but I'm still sceptical it will be reasonably viewable.
Cheers

Skeptical does not begin to describe my skepticism.
