[question] Beef Jerky

With over 70,000 members I am hoping someone will be able to help me out.

As you all know, I live in Vienna, Austria. I love Beef Jerky, first tried it when I was about 10 after my dad came back from a mission and brought some with him.

Problem: Beef Jerky is not very well known here in Austria.

Question: Does anyone know whether there are any companies that operate and sell in Europe? (or maybe even if you know of one in Austria?)

How can I obtain this good stuff?
Thanks!

Hi, CM...just a suggestion, maybe you could find the instructions somewhere and just make it yourself! It isn't difficult at all.

Years ago, I was involved with a company that literally started out of a garage making jerky, and I was amazed at how simple it was! They used soy sauce and coarse pepper for seasoning (at that time; I'm sure they later expanded the varieties) and it was absolutely first rate.

Personally I don't like the stuff. too rubbery.

CM: wassamatter in the new year? Very non-controversial, tame, limp threads. Where's the fire?

Beef jerkey is great and yeah it is easy to make although I prefer a smoker over a dehydrator. Sorry to say but almost every meat market in my home town sells homemade jerkey (beef, turkey, chicken, venison, etc...)

Pemmican Brand Beef Jerky is the best beef jerky there is on the face of the planet. It is owned by Conagra, and is sold primarily in the US, but I have found that Conagra has an address in France, and Guam, and Hong Kong, so if it goes that far maybe they sell it(pemmican) over there(in france) somewhere...

It is Distributed over here by Goodmark foods, and can be found in many Convenience stores nationwide.
They also sell Slim Jims, but those are nasty tubes of grease masquerading as meat snacks.

Make it myself? Hey thats going to be too much work, I would rather just buy a pack of tasty juicy beef jerky ..well I guess I'll have to look at these recipes and evaluate the possibility of turning this project in to self-service.
