Real reason is that, in addition to Nite Life and Broadway plays, the Republic Party is forcing the Democratic Party to spend money in NYS which has not bvoted Republican since Reagan in '84.

NYS is third biggest State ---after CA and TX-- so 31 Electoral votes ain't nothing to sneeze at.

Gore carried State big in 2000. "Safest" big State for Democrats is not so safe, it seems, after this.

Two Dem. Senators (Shumer and Rodham Clinton), Rep. Gov. Geo. Pataki, Rep. Mayor, Mike Bloomberg.

With TX a safe Rep. State, CA will probably be more important than ever.

SoCal. benefiting from Defense spending may have stablized. NoCal still in a Tech-bust.

Will 2004 Presidential Election be decided by one State? Maybe, but only if election is a close one. Otherwise, no IMO. Could be close though--depending on Iraq, recession, and ? ?
