Another "I feel bad so I have to sue" story

Kid has zits
Kid uses zit cream
Kid flies plane into building in support of Osama bin Ladin
Mom sues zit cream company

This is as bad as sueing McD's because you're fat.

Sometimes I have the feeling that sueing is encouraged in America?

No sueing is not encouraged as much as it is not discouraged.

You do not need much more encouragement than a big paycheck.

There is this media fed hatred of big business which says you can take money for your stupidity because it hurts no one when you sue big business.

personal responsibility simply means almost nothing when you go to court against a large company. Jury will pay if you are sympathetic. Problem is that most of these people are symply pathetic IMO.

Lawyers like to sue. That's why they like it here.

Yes, but only by unethical lawyers and judges, not by society in general. American society deplores this type of thing as much as you do, ClubMed. Lawyers are one thing. Their profession is one where many are paid to lie for a living. Judges in America, on the other hand, have become purveyors of political agendas that are not able to be ratified by Congress because of their unpopularity and have twisted the Constitution for their own desires. This is just another manifestation of their setting policy and their unchecked and reckless use of the American Judicial system. Judges are supposed to follow law, not emotion or politics. There is no law that says companies should be held liable for stupidity that mixes with hot coffee, guns, fat, zit cream or any other product that is used without harm by billions daily.

the lawsuit, which contends Accutane caused the boy to develop severe psychosis and led him to commit suicide.
How do you know it didn't have that effect on him?

Unbelievable, when I first saw the post I thought it was a joke, then I read the report.

The 'compensation culture' is becoming rife over here too. I feel it's to do with people of a certain kind not being able to take responsibility for their own actions anymore.

lawyers and judges factor in and I venture to say may even lure people into the latigious society. But people's lack of personal responsibility is now what drives it.

I was always taught to look at myself first before I blamed others. People need to re-learn this.
