Marijuana law declared invalid
In Canada, an individual may now theoretically possess up to 30 grams of marijuana and get away without being charged or fined. This comes after Justice Douglas Phillips, an Ontario judge declared the current law regarding possession under 30 grams of marijuana invalid, essentially eliminating the federal law. The judge dismissed two counts of possession under 30 grams levelled against a 16 year old youth.
Thoughts?

It could be an interesting night up here
I still think it should be controlled in the same manner as alcohol, no driving etc.
But then again I've never had a problem with people using/buying/selling it as long as it was in a mature manner.

I believe that the police would still charge people and leave it up to the courts to decide whether or not the law is applicable. I think the courts may have done all the work that the parliament didn't want to undertake. Toronto Star Article
One of the people interviewed in this article claims that the law is still applicable. Guess the next couple of months will be interesting. The Government has 10 days to review and decide what it wants to do. I wonder what move they'll take.

mmmmmm, doritos
I'm all for stopping the insanity (IMO) of jailing pot users. I just don't see the logic or intelligence in the matter.
I really don't see the logic in jailing any substance abuser, except for any crimes they may commit otherwise. But I don't think deadly drugs should be handled the same pot.
ATF needs to change to ATWTF (Alcohol, Tobacco, Waky Tobacy, & Firearms)

Legalize it, ...... Tax it......., regulate it. (it being all drugs of non medicial value.) Important medical drugs should still be perscribed as in antibiotics where resistance is a concern for the common good.
