Don't. If it's a small business, with partners, and you feel that a DBA will not work for you, go with an LLC.
I'm not sure what Louisiana's business practice laws are, but in Michigan, all we had to do was fill out a sheet of paper stating that the six of us were doing business as Business Logic Solutions, and voila, we are a business.
