Mice or trackballs recommendations

I am looking at a new mouse i was ideally looking at something like the logitech mx500. But i've also heared that trackballs are reasonably decent ???

What i need is some help in finding a half decent mouse or trackball ..... the only specifications i have in mind are the following...

It must be corded non of this naff cordless stuff i've had nothing but trouble with them.

Must be optical (saves cleaning it every two minutes)


Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

well, i just purchased the logitech mx700 a week or so ago. it was my first cordless mouse and i was surprised at how well it worked. i know u said no cordless but at least read some reviews on this mouse. it acts like it has an invisible cord attached. also, the batteries are rechargable so u never have to replace them, you simply place the mouse up right in the reciever stand and it recharges itself. of course this mouse is also optical. i rate it a 10 out of 10.

Cheers drew but i already have a cordless mouse with recharge station but i find it a nuisance as it sometimes doesn't charge properly

I'm intrested in hte fact you have the MX700 as tthe mx 500 has the same body to it what do you think of it ? is it comfortable to use ?

I used to find the self recharging batteries in cordless mouses a hassle as well. But the technology has improved by leaps and bounds. I'd have no trouble getting a mouse that uses it's own rechargable batteries today. In fact I've been eyeballing that Logitech mx. Oh yeah, but it's only for right-handers...God I hate that. Us lefties get no friggin' respect.

westy, as far as comfort and usability, the mx700 is great. the little groove for your thumb to fit in is great and makes it much easier to hang on to. the fact that the main buttons are "hidden" instead of being plainly visible adds to the stylishness of the mouse. again, i rate it a 10 out of 10

Where i work, someone had the brainiac idea of buying trackball mice for all of the computers. They are the biggest pain in the arse IMO. I hate them.

I have a MS Intellimouse Optical USB 4-button that I use. It's the best mouse I have ever used. Once again, IMO.

As for cordless mice? I don't see any use in them. And once again, IMO.

I like my MS Intellimouse Explorer. It feels good in my hand and all those buttons are great. I would like to try one of those Logitech MX700's. They look interesting.
