homeless on the streets

This is kind of sad. The homeless may get banned from the streets in Los Angeles.I can't find a link to it, but I saw it on KCAL 9 news earlier today. Do you think they should get banned? I don't think so because its bad enough that they don't have a home.

OK so they are banned. This is good for the homeless because now they will have to arrest them for breaking the ban, Put them in jail and then feed them.

Sounds like a plan to me.................

Well I have a real problem with the homeless people that don't even try to get out of their situation. (Which IMO is most of them.) The ones that ask for money and you can still smell hard liquor on their breath.
I remember I went to Toronto and a homeless guy was drunk with his pants down and an empty dime bag next to him. Earlier that day he had a sign "Spare some change?" .... How am I supposed to feel sorry for that guy?

i live with an alley behind my house that has quite a few homeless living in it. our alley is regularly 5h17 in.
a common saying is, " food you can find for free in the dumpsters, alcohol you have to buy."
spare change anybody? id like a beer.

However, i was once homeless myself, living in the back seat of my camaro. both luck and determination are needed to get you out of that situation. the mentally ill, and those who use alcohol +/or drugs to deal with menntal illness, dont have the tools necessary to do it. anyone who says "they should get a job"
dost undertstand = many just cant.

What might work is a "Turn in AOL Disks for Cash" Program. The homeless guys I see in the libraries and using the Internet smell terrible. I always carry a canister of Ozium when I go to a library to look up something.

I agree Speedo.

over here where I live at, you see alot of people on the corners asking for money.

There is this lady who always asks for 50cents to a dollar. And I told her already to get herself a freaking job and that at the 7-11 right across the street are hiring!!

My dad has told me of how he's seen some of them gambling away in Luisiana when he goes there once in a while for fun.

And as for those who are pregnant and hungry, and beg for money. It's pathetic.

I don't fall for that crap since the hospitals will give you a meal, and put you in a halfway house, and there are places where you can go in and have a meal when you are hungry, and are places where you can crash for the night.

You really want to know why they don't go there? Because they are too friggin lazy.

There are many centers in my city, but the catch is that they have to have a job. They don't even care if you make 2bucks a day, as long as you work, and they will even give you a job, and even monitor your employer to make sure that he pays you what you need to be paid and that you don't get abused!!

But alot of them don't even want to do that. It's kinda fraged up when you know that there are centers in your city that will give a roof over the heads of the homeless, give them their daily meal(s) as long as they work, and they will find them a job ofcoarse, but that they don't even want to do that because it's easier for them to beg for food or money.

Heck, on the Saturday before Christmas I saw a homeless guy holding up a sign that said "Need Cold Beer". If it wasn't for my gf, I would of bought him an ice cold beer and given it to him for being honest.

As for what speedo said on them breaking the law and getting jailed for it. It's a pretty good idea considering that they will get their three square meals a day, a roof over their heads, and that they will get medical attention

you do know that rehab is free in this countr for those who seek it. it may not be as great as the rehab you pay for, but it's free and it for those who are willing to make their lives better.

as for the "Get a job" I've offered jobs to the homeless, and their excuse is "I can't dig", "I have a bad back" and I tell them that I know some convenient stores where all theyw ill do is sweep the floors, get clean clothes from the manager, and even shower in the back shower that the stores sometimes have, and like I have mentioned, every city has a center for the homeless.

and as for those who have mental illness, then they need to go to the hospital, and for those who are drug adicts, then they should go to a rehabilitation center.

not the only reason: many are mentally ill. many are alcoholocs or drug users to
self-medicate the voices in their heads.
however, when i see (for ex) a white-haired old black man with one leg, i will usually contribute. when i see someone middle age or younger, begging, who looks physically fit, i will never donate, it enables their
addictions and i have no sympathy 4 them.
>>>>>which is not to say that "they can just go get a job."
the mentally ill cant. would you hire a crazy person who thought (for ex) you were satan and wanted to kill u? homey dont think so.
>>>>>>i worked my way out of homelessness but i had every advantage : white race, well educated, not mentally ill, or alcoholic, or drug-addicted. others without these advantages
wont be so lucky.

actually I would call the cops on him and get him in a mental institute. and since when does being white give you an advantage? over here 90% of the homeless population are white. the rest are made up from blacks, asians, hispanics, ect.

and honestly. if the law did go out and made arrests and sought after those who are mentally ill or who are addicts, they should intern them in a rehab center or in a hospital.
