Birth of the first Human Clone 12/27/02
First Human Clone born today. The genie is out of the lamp now never to return.
The baby, dubbed "Eve" by the scientists, is a clone of the 31-year-old American woman who donated the DNA for the cloning process, had the resulting embryo implanted and then gestated the baby. If confirmed, that would make the child an exact genetic duplicate of her mother.
Very Orwellian, even though prohibited in 2001. People ignoring laws and playing God is scary. So much for the value and the uniqueness of one's life. Knowing it's for the good of medical research right now, we can guess it will likely be exploited for financial gain. How does this make you feel as a person? Do you feel like your value as a human has just depreciated three-fold like I kind of do?

Crazy stuff isn't it! I'm waiting for the lab results...
I never knew there was an entire group of people who have the same theory as to how we came about to live on this planet as I do.
Though the whole claiming to be visited by these creators makes me want to change my mind just so noone thinks I'm on the same level

Well I think we were made by a creator also, but not one that landed in Roswell
i too am waiting on the lab results to see if it's legit.Notthat I like, or support the idea of cloning.

A few questions we should consider:
How can something created from Man's DNA, be given a Soul which is created by God? Simply, it cannot. So then, (playing Devil's Advocate here), many of us should have no problem with cloning ourselves for harvesting spare parts since it isn't a real 'live' human in order to prolong our lives? And can we name one technological/medical advancement that mankind has not eventually twisted to create ways to destroy itself? Pesticides developed to prevent insects from destroying the world's food supply have morphed into chemical/biological weapons. Nuclear fission was originally developed as a clean source of power, and we know how that turned out. Mankind screws up(F-word fits better) most everything it touches. This is not the last clone, this is only the beginning, a beginning of the generation I wish I was not a spectator to.

I only have one comment. That is downright SICK. IMO cloning of humans, animals and such should be illegal and 500% banned.
Im not saying anymore on this subject this is distressing to see. |

"Birth of the first Human Clone 12/27/02"
Possibly, but probably not. I'll have to see some proof.

Her and her 'cult" would lose all credibility if they couldn't back up their claim. Like you said, we'll see.

Whether or not this one is real (Rael?), and whether or not it's immoral, it's gonna happen, and probably soon.
I think people are overestimating the yuck factor; folks reacted this way to in vitro fertilization, and that's now pretty run-of-the-mill.
I for one can't see any inherent ethical problem, once the technical problems are solved. For now, given the bad effects seen with other mammalian clones, I think it's clearly unjustifiable to put a human child at risk this way; but that's a problem that's sure to be resolved, as were the problems with blood transfusions and organ transplants, both of which had bad initial results and high yuck factors.

Bring on the clones.
Maybe they will teach us all a lesson.

So...does anyone know of a good planet to move to? I don't think I wanna stay here anymore.
WHY? WHY DO WE EVEN NEED CLONES?
It's wrong, it's sick, it's disgusting and I want no part of it. Hopefully my life will be over before the s*** hits the fan for real with this stuff. But I was finally coming to accept the thought that juat maybe I some time in the future would want to have children. But who would want to subject ones children to a world that's heading in this direction?
These things make me so depressed.
And angry.
