Ezine advertising, explain cpm?

I know it is somehow a click thru rate but thats about all I know. Does anyone here do any ezine advertising? I saw an ezine with a $20cpm...isnt that super high? The ezine had a subcriber base of about 1000.

How does cpm work, can someone explain it to me?

JP

I see that CPM means "cost per 1000 impressions".

The ezine in question above has 3 ads per issue.

I suppose that the lesser amount of ads each issue = a higher cost. This particular ezine is targeted toward fiction writers...I also suppose that the more narrow, or defined, the ezine audience, then the higher the cpm rate?

You mean an email newsletter? Some have higher CPM's but I'd be wary... In newsletter ad terms, you pay for every delivery, even if the person doesn't read or click on your ad. Some say that they have better results than other ad mediums, but I'm skeptical. I like CPC based advertising.
