I would figure it by time, at $50 to $75 an hour. (That's what it would cost to get one repaired.) To get the box set up (assuming HDD, CD-RW, floppy) should run you about an hour if you've been doing this a lot. (I'm a klutz, and nervous to boot, so it takes me more like three.) Getting the operating system and the drivers loaded, about another hour.

edited to fix typo

Are we talking about setting one up as just assembling what's already built? Or is this a complete build? Also, if I have to explain how each and every feature works, the price skyrockets.

Sorry, but Mine's in Canadian funds Probably about 150$ tacked on to price of parts&shipping. Should take about 2 hours to set up from scratch to working comp, barring incedent.

depends - I'm all in for bartering - last year I built one for our little league - and in return my 3 kids played for free ($175) - they came out a little ahead - but it was a fair deal - (one I didn't ask for - they offered)

Also have helped our mechanic numerous times - for free - but I think his 'paybacks' have been extremley generous - to the point where it embarasses me sometimes - but... he won't hear of it.

I normally charge about £30-£40 but it depends. If you might get a favour out of them in the future, keep 'em sweet and do it for free.
Or if you just fancy being nice.

Completly from scratch... I was thinking about $50-100 US. prob about $50 / hr. I am generious, However it looks like I'm going to need to set everything up including OS and scanner, printer, etc... AND explain how everything works.
Thanx for your opinions.
