What's your favorite Cookie that's special to the holidays?

What's your favorite Cookie that's special to the holidays?
Can you tell I'm going to bake? I'd love any ideas!

I'm going to try and do these cookies that each have an Andes mint in them. (lost recipe that's why I said try)

Then some with Coconut and Brazil Nuts.. yum

Then my favorites, it's a short cookie with pecans rolled in powder sugar...

Hmmm Date nut cookies would be good too..

favorite kind of cookie?? does that i nclude bars?? my mom used to make date bars during Christmas. havent tasted any since that have equaled hers.

she used to also make somethings called rum balls. they had chocolate in them and were rolled into around 1" balls and had a cherry inserted in them. i ate so many of them when she was taking a nap i got severly sick and to this day if i get a taste of anything remotly near the same as those things,my stomache starts turning.

of course, wifey does her share of holiday baking, too. her specialty is swedish coffee ring. i wont go into the ingrediants here, but i do know when Christmas rolls around,we get a few calls from the neighbors who we give them to(she makes around 2 dozen of em each year)asking"are making those agian this year(hint hint)? LOL rarely does one make it through the nite to the next morning.

then there are the homade caramals dipped in chocolate(both dark and white, with the white dipped having a tough of almond flavoring in the coating) havent eaten myself sick on those(yet)

since i ve been home,i havent seen one xmas thing as of yet. just my luck she s going to WW

ohBTW,on a semi-related subject, since november 13 when is started working down state,i ve lost 10 lbs. 10 more and i ll be down to high school grad weight, that is if wifey doesnt start baking today

off to the fridge......in search of......?

..salivating brad,over and out

Martha Washington balls??/

I'm gonna whip these up now..
Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies
• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 cup butter or margarine softened
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
• 1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, drained, reserve juice
• 1 (6-ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips
• 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
In large bowl, stir together flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder and soda. In mixer bowl, beat together butter or margarine and sugar on low speed until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture; beat until well blended. Shape dough into 1" balls; place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down center of dough with thumb. Drain Maraschino cherries, reserving juice. Place a cherry in the center indention of each cookie.
In small saucepan combine chocolate pieces and sweetened condensed milk; heat over low heat until chocolate is melted. Stir in 4 teaspoons of the reserved cherry juice. Spoon about 1 teaspoon frosting over each cherry spreading to cover cherry. (frosting may be thinned with additional cherry juice if necessary) Bake at 350 degrees or until done. Remove to wire rack to cool.
Makes 4 dozen cookies.
