Need Help tracking a company.

If you can call it a company. I am not sure what it is as of yet. We got an unexpected bill from a long distance carrier today that we do not use.
the bill was only for 12 minutes total however those 12 mintues work out to be charged at 10.85 per minute.

We will dispute the bill. We had used a seperate number today to call the number on the bill to see who it was. The number has been disconnected and appeared to be a cell phone. Has very odd area code. area code was 024.

So before we call up the phone company monday I am trying to find some infomation on what this is.

According to the statement it says its direct dialed and the place description says GUI BISSAU PG.

Can anyone help me locate what the hell this is??? is there somewhere on the net where I can plug in the phone number and it will point me to who owned the number or did own it?

Thanks I would appreciate any info.

We did get our regular statement from our normal long distance carrier with our normal charges. We hardely do any long distance calling and if we do it never more than 5 long distance calls a month.

Thank you in advance if anyone can come up with any info at all.

I stuck BISSAU into Google, and came up with that on a list of countries beginning with the letter "G"

You could try www.teldir.com

I think they have a reverse lookup

Not a good thing to do TKOP, why because if you toss it away after 6months regardless if the call is not yours or not you will be bound to pay for the charges.

We found out to dispute charges it must be in writing so I will be writting up letter this weekend disputing all charges and also sending a formal letter of complaint to the FTC as well So they know we are serious.

So have to keep up on this cuz if we ignore it, down the road it will hurt us.

Thanks folks for your help. Did a bit of researching on the net and its pretty disturbing how easy it is for phone numbers to be slammed or crammed. Learned something new today. Not the way I wnated to learn it.

Thank you

Neo

Hi,

I recently got a bill from AT&T (my long distance provider) for $130.00. Apparently someone used my phone number to call this Gui Bissua place. The call lasted 23 minutes. I called AT&T and was told that this is an adult computer site. They said they would waive the charges this one time but if it happens again I will be responsible for the charges. They said they could put a block on my phone number so that no international calls can be placed but it is not 100% effective. Needless to say, I am really aggrevated. I have discontinued my long distance service because I never make long distance calls anyway. Don't know if this will help or not. Does anyone have any ideas??

You might try AnyWho to track the number. It's an AT&T website that will do reverse lookup, but I don't know if it will do international calls.
