Saw the biggest movie of christmas season tonight :)
Lord of the Rings 2 is really fantastic. Simply put!! The landscapes, the battles (o the battles!), the characters.....everything is top notch. I really dont know what makes the movie that good but its just really up there IMO. Easily one of my top ten movies so far (Im just gonna say the Lord o the Rings movies is one entry in the top ten )
And for us guys, we can gaze at the lovely Ms. Tyler (the elf princess in the movie) who I think needs to get ALOT more screen time. For you ladies you can swoon over Legolas. It was actually kinda funny, in the theater the chicks all kinda yelled when he first showed up on screen.

I give it a C- ... strayed far from the book at times... variations on a theme was all it was.
Other than that, the eye candy was great =)

Other than that, the eye candy was great =) | thats this thing. I read the books after seeing the movies. so i dont complain about the movies because i dont know how accurate it is towards the books. Also, reading the book after seeing the movie is like reading an expanded version of the movie. i am going to see two towers for sure. I loved the first one. they did an awesom job on the first one for only having three hours |

I havent seen it yet, but I understand they did change a few things such as using elves rather than the Rangers in the battle, but I am still loking forward to seeing it. I was a huge fan of the books and will be of the movies as well.
What I hate is when people say "the book was so much better than the movie", I do agree with this but you try fitting a book accuratly into a 3 hour movie.
Did you know they had to cut the 1st movie from 9 hours of footage to 3 hours.

Once you watch all the "making of" stuff on the extended DVD set, you get a better feel for what you can and can't do in a movie. They might have held closer to the original story, but made a worse movie. Some stuff just doesn't come across.

Oh, yeah! Remember "Dune" ?
That would have been a terrific (if strange) movie, only I had unfortunately read the book(s) many years earlier.
It's true, there are just some things an Author can write that won't neccessarily translate to the big screen.
I'll sure see LOTR, but only to enjoy the visuals...it couldn't be as good as what I "saw" already in the books by Tolkien. |

| Is that what I've got to look forward to tomorrow when we go to see it? My wife is a big Legolas fan. I've got a Legolas wallpaper on my second PC. My wife made me do it!

The same thing is being conveyed through two different mediums. The occurances in the book will be different in your imagination than they may be on the screen. Thus your opinion will changed accordingly.
I wish I could remember more what he taught me, he turned out to be a cool teacher. Unfortunately I learned that too late in the quarter.

You know why the movie is never as good as the book?
While reading the book, you as the reader is interpreting the descriptions and story in the book and making up your own images in your head. How long does it normally take to read a book? Alot longer than to see a movie probably. When you see a movie you're watching what the director(+other staff) has interpreted from what the script-writer has interpreted from the book. The movie isn't made directly from the book.
That's why alot of people get disappointed when they see something that isn't similar to what they have imagined in their heads while reading the book and say: "The movie wasn't as good as the book."
The experiences are two separate things. And then the debate wheter if seeing the movie is a better experience than reading the book can go on for eternity. IMO, they can't be compared.

IMO you are wrong... if you want to see a good book made into a movie, check out The Green Mile. I can rattle off a few others if you would like as well.
