Isn't this "Judge" the same loonytoon who just weighed-in with a lengthy diatribe against the 2nd Amendment?
This guy, Popov, got the ball first. Then, a "gang of bandits" set upon the guy and dislodged the ball...dig where McCarthy goes with it:
"During the trial, McCarthy's questioning focused on the legal definition of ownership -- how long a person must hold something to be considered an owner. "
I propose that Popov would have been able to hold the ball for a very long time--had he not been jumped!
So get a load of this---McCarthy finally comes out of his hole but fails to see his own shadow:
"The judge made a point of saying that if he awarded the ball solely to Hayashi, it could send the wrong message to fans about civility in the stands.
"This case demands vindication of an important principle," he said. "We are a nation governed by law, not by brute force." "
Seems to me he sent a very STRONG message about brute force...i.e.,
Go ahead and jump the guy...you may get some whacked-out judge to award you half of a million-dollar ball!
