I have never seen one on the ground, I have seen the funnel overhead, and from a distance. It is a sight to behold.Makes you realize where you fit in the big picture.
To tell ya the truth, I'm prolly to afraid of them to see them on purpose

| As a child, I was fascinated with tornados and Galileo.
I used to draw pictures of tornados on grocery bags, I think I just loved the idea of a force of nature that even my mom and dad couldn't argue with, you know?
Example: If I jammed my broccoli into the underside of the kitchen table and got caught, I'd get a whoopin'....
But if a tornado jammed ITS broccoli into the underside of the kitchen table, WELL! I figured there just wouldn't be a THING my parents could have done about it!
So that's why I like tornados. But then again, I have never witnessed one, nor have I ever talked to anybody who has. |

Well I just got back online. I was sitting here, and the sirens went off, Tornado Warning.
No I have never been in a tornado Knot. I have seen 90mph straight line winds, and that's a force all it's own. I can't imagine them spinning twice that fast, and being called a baby tornado
This one went north of us 10 miles, got a nice little rain out of it, and it's still rumbling outside.10:30 PM and it warmer now than it was all day 60 degrees. This is prolly not good

Global warming at its best.
Here in New York they used to be unheard of. Now we get at least on per year. A few years ago we had a big one. I didn't see it, but the path of destruction it tore was... awesome. Driving by its path, I could see where it tore down one hillside, across a small field, and up another. There was nothing that could stand against it. Nothing.
Global warming? Maybe?

I have seen a funnel cloud from a distance also. Pretty damn awesome. Being a firefighter, when everyone else is being told to go underground or to a safe place, we are out on the road advising to do so on the PA. God help us all if it ever strikes our metro. |

Thunderstorms in december were unheard of when I was younger. I saw lightning when I pulled in the drive after work tonight. Heck if it keeps going like this I'm going to have to move to Canada so I can see snow!

Yup. We're supposed to get a thunderstorm this morning. Good grief.
Three twisters came through town a couple months ago. Made a pretty big mess out of things. Luckily my little berg was between two touchedowns. Dropped a tree in my yard and bonked some siding, but otherwise no damage. I should've parked my car under the tree...
